Faculty of Social Sciences, CMU Welcomes Delegation from Sogang University, Republic of Korea

On Wednesday, 7 January 2026, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University (CMU) warmly welcomed a delegation from Sogang University, led by Professor Myeon Jeong, Dean of the Faculty of History. The visit was held at the Dhani Bhaholyodhin Conference Room, Faculty of Social Sciences.
The delegation was received by Associate Professor Dr. Wasan Panyagaew, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, together with the faculty’s executive team. The visiting group comprised Professor Dr.Myeon Jeong, faculty members and staff from Sogang University, as well as 10 undergraduate students from the HUSS Inclusive Society Program.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential academic collaboration between the two institutions, including the establishment of a faculty-level Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the development of joint academic activities. The discussions explored future cooperation initiatives such as student and faculty exchanges, collaborative learning programs, and preparations toward formalizing academic cooperation.
As part of the academic program, Associate Professor Dr. Wasan Panyagaew delivered a lecture and engaged in academic exchange on the topic “Cross-Border Migrant Workers from Myanmar in Chiang Mai.” The session created a shared learning platform for faculty members and students from both institutions. This was followed by student exchange activities involving 8 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, CMU, conducted in a friendly and interactive atmosphere.
The visit fostered meaningful academic dialogue and cross-cultural learning between Chiang Mai University and Sogang University.
