Faculty of Social Sciences, CMU Hosts Cultural and Experiential Learning Activities for Sogang University. (Day 2)

On Thursday, 8 January 2026, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University (CMU), continued to host the delegation from Sogang University with a series of cultural and experiential learning activities designed to understanding of Chiang Mai’s historical heritage and local wisdom.
In the morning, the delegation visited the Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Centre located near the Three Kings Monument, where participants learned about the history, culture, and urban development of Chiang Mai and the former Lanna Kingdom. The visit provided valuable insights into the region’s social and cultural foundations through exhibitions.
Following this, the group proceeded to Wat Chedi Luang, one of Chiang Mai’s most significant historical temples. The visit allowed students and faculty members to explore Lanna architecture, Buddhist heritage, and offering a meaningful cultural learning experience.
In the afternoon, the delegation participated in a “Tud Tung” (ตุง) Workshop, a traditional Lanna handicraft activity at the CMU Lanna House Museum. During the workshop, participants were introduced to the cultural significance of Tud Tung, decorative paper or fabric banners commonly used in Northern Thai religious ceremonies and community festivals. This interactive session encouraged cultural exchange, creativity, and appreciation of local craftsmanship, fostering a warm and engaging atmosphere among Thai and Korean students.
The Day 2 activities successfully combined academic learning with cultural immersion, strengthening mutual understanding and enhancing the overall exchange experience between Chiang Mai University and Sogang University.
