Welcome Visit and Coordination Meeting for the 2026 Overseas Ethnography Workshop

On Thursday, 18 June 2026, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, warmly welcomed representatives of the organizing institutions of the 2026 Overseas Ethnography Workshop for an initial coordination meeting and campus visit.

The delegation was led by Ms. Alexis Liao, who is responsible for local coordination of the project in Chiang Mai, and accompanied by Ms. Jun, Assistant Coordinator. During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with Associate Professor Dr. Wasan Panyagaew, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Chanida Suwanprasit, Deputy Dean for Research and International Relations, regarding the proposed collaboration for the 2026 Overseas Ethnography Workshop, an international academic initiative jointly organized by Zhejiang University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nankai University, Xiamen University, and Shanghai University.

Discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration and institutional support, including venue arrangements, workshop facilities, logistical coordination, and opportunities for student engagement. The delegation also toured key locations within the Faculty and Chiang Mai University that may serve as venues for keynote lectures, proposal workshops, and networking activities during the workshop, which is scheduled to take place from 1–3 August 2026 at the Faculty of Social Sciences, CMU.
